Chapter 9 Cross boarder - refers to the movement of people across geographic boarders Emigration - the process of leaving one’s home country permanently for a foreign country. E migrant - people leaving their home country and settling in a foreign country Immigration - the process of settling in a foreign country for a permanent stay Immigrant - person coming into a foreign country Migration- the movement of people from one country to another Brain drain – a situation when educated people of a country emigrate from their home countries to other countries Remittance - money sent from one place or person to another often from a family member abroad to relatives back home Prostitution - the sale of sexual services for money Slavery- traditionally a system in which one person owned another person often from birth until death and had total control over that individual within the law of society. The owner was responsible within those laws for feeding clothing, sheltering, and generally caring for those slaves. More recently a modern for of slavery has emerged in which the
