1. Company, Scope and Services Mission Statement Our mission is to build a high quality, China-focused recruiting agency. Our main business focus is to recruit talent from worldwide top-notch institutions and place them at different levels (analyst, associate, and executive levels) of China-focused private equity/ venture capital firms and their portfolio companies, small and medium enterprises (SME) and multinational corporations (MNC). Our candidates will include MBAs and recent graduates, professionals with advanced degrees and undergraduate students, with both Chinese language proficiency and western management skills. Problem and Strategy Problem: “Investments in China Reached US$5.56B in first half of 2006.”¹ With China’s ten percent annual GDP growth rate, Chinese-focused venture capital/private equity firms and their portfolio companies, small and medium enterprises (SME) and multinational corporations (MNC) need a larger talent pool from which they can draw recruits. Their challenge is to find recruits who have both Chinese language proficiency and western management skills, which enables companies to build superior global leadership teams. David Mixer, founding partner of Columbia Capital, pointed out that while there is an ample amount of money chasing a number of deals, the greatest problem in China is that many companies lack “western” management skills. ¹ http://www.zero2ipo.com.cn/en/# 1

Strategy: To address this problem, China Capital Ventures, LLC (CCV) intends to launch a China-focused recruiting agency. CCV is very active in the Chinese VC/PE market and has built a strong relationship with Chinese VC/PE firms and their portfolio companies. By targeting talent from prestigious academic institutions through career fairs, information sessions, and alumni associations, we will have the ability to bridge the gap between Chinese companies’ high demand for talent and students’ interest in working in China. CCV needs to fully understand the market opportunity, the go-to-market strategy, the business model, and capital investment required to pursue the business concept in order to ascertain whether we should launch the service. Scope Horizontal: Our first step is focusing on the top 30 Business Schools (for MBAs) and the top 20 Institutions (for Undergraduates, Masters, JDs and PhDs) in the U.S. (See Appendix 1 about MBA and university ranking). After two years or so, we will consider top-notch institutions in other countries. Vertical: China Capital Ventures keeps a close relationship with Chinese VC/PE firms and their portfolio companies. Amy Chiang, co-founder of CCV, is a member of the Admissions Department at the Chicago Business School. She is also a very active participant in many different business school conferences. Besides, we can use database from High Street Partners (HSP works with the finance team at venture-backed and recently public companies to build focused strategies for Chinese expansion), our partner, 2
