Rothwell,Tim English 110 Triggered Lois Diaz-Talty is one of the millions of people in America who suffer from obesity. She always knew that she was not in great shape; she just never took any necessary steps to solve the issue. When she made the cheerleading squad in the eighth grade, it was not due to her physical abilities, rather her great smile and loud voice guaranteed her spot on the team. This is not the way she wanted to live out her life. On one summer afternoon in 1988, Lois took part a verbal argument with an 18-year old boy. As the verbal abuse was coming to a closure, the 18-year old punk yelled out to Lois, “Ah, look at ‘er. She’s fat! Go to hell, fat bitch.” These words stung Lois immediately; they hurt, but they were true. These are the words that triggered Lois into changing her life. “From then on, I was committed to shedding the weight and getting into shape.” Everybody is self-motivated in his or her own unique way.
