Steel acquires the Texas Oil & Gas Company • 1986 – U .S. Steel changes name to USX Corporation • 1991 – A new class of common stock is issued by the USX Corporation • October, 2001 – USX Corporation becomes United States Steel Corporation and Marathon Oil Company • January 1, 2002 – The two companies began separate operations • 2003 – U .S.
