SLIDE 1For most of the twentieth century, black holes seemed the stuff of science fiction, portrayed either as monstervacuum cleaners consuming all the matter around them or as tunnels from one universe to another. But the truth aboutblack holes is almost stranger than fiction. As we continue our voyage into the universe, we will discover that black holesare the key to explaining many mysterious and remarkable objects—including collapsed stars and the active centers ofgiant galaxies.Today, I’m going to tackle and discuss to you the most disturbing and mysterious astronomical mattershappening in our universe: The Black Holes and Curved Spacetime.SLIDE 2Black hole are deceptively simple and yet incredibly complex, which are among the most fascinating objects in ouruniverse and also the most mysterious. Basaha an meaning ---------------------------------------------It is a horizon in the sense that events within the black hole can never be seen from outside. We don’t have the physics to describe what a black hole is because it leads to a paradox, a breakdown in ourunderstanding of how the universe works. Then, we have Curved Spacetime which says (basaha)--------------------------------SLIDE 3Here is an artist’s rendering of a stellar mass black hole. So this is a star that has collapsed and died and it is on theorder of a few times the mass of the Sun generates this kind of black hole.
