Crouch 1 KOHA According to Wikipedia, KOHA is a open-source Integrated Library System. It is the first of its kind. This system is a very impressive and well-designed system that can be used by libraries of all sizes. KOHA was created in 1999, and it has been growing ever since and with each year the system becomes better and better as the developers look to meet the ever growing needs of their users. To show how impressive this system is we will look at the awards that it has won in the past couple of years. In 2004, it was the joint winner of the computer world excellence award fo the use of IT in a non-profit organization in Auckland, NZ. In 2003, it was the winner of the Trophees du Libre, software for the public administration category in Soissons, France. In 2000, 3M award for innovation in libraries, and also TUANZ interactive award, community/not for profit category.
