In The Heights I watched the Broadway musical “In the Heights” this past Sunday, and I noticed from the beginning, the dress code was business casual, it is not mandatory but customary. From my arrival, I was told to not make any noises in the theatre that would disturb anyone else, not to open any type of plastic bag and to turn off my cell phone. The rules were strict, but it made for an enjoyable show that did not get ruined by a person on his cell phone. The performance started with an opening song that set the table for the events that followed, the main character lived in the Washington Heights part of Manhattan and owned a business and enjoyed his humble life, but still dreamed big. The song’s tone differed between comical to depressing to uplifting. There were maybe five solo songs sung throughout the performance, however, the bulk of the singing were duets or trios accompanied with a choir singing the chorus. The songs often incorporated harmony and melody has the performers accentuated each other and the music moved in
