Britni Aaron World Lit Dr. Kenyon September 29, 2005 Chekhov My least favorite story from Chekhov was “Vanka”. I really didn’t like reading it because it was too tragic for me. I really didn’t even want to finish read the story just because I felt so sorry for the boy. I hate child abuse and it makes me want to cry knowing that this young boy is getting beatings. What gets me the most about it is young Vanka probably did not deserve to get beaten. I also feel really sorry for Vanka because he writes a letter for his grandfather in hopes of being rescued, but his grandfather never received the letter. I just thought this story was too depressing and not enjoyable to read. I thought that “Anna on the Neck” was on okay story. I just felt like it dragged on for too long. At the beginning of the story I felt sorry for Anna because she had to marry a guy who she was not in love with in order to help her family. I can relate to Anna in a way because I love my family and I would do whatever it takes to help them out. In the
