Acceptence of students to educational institute in Italy
The education system in Italy consists of free public schools maintained by the
government and private schools maintained by religious bodies or other private owners.
Some of these private schools provide international curricula such as the International
Baccalaureate and Cambridge.
Age is the primary factor which affects the acceptance of the school in Italy for the
elementary level. Public and some private schools only consider age as the acceptance. It is
not obligatory to have education up to age six ( The Italian school system: How does
education work in Italy?, nd).
All students in Italy, irrespective of nationality, have access to the Italian public
school system. From the age of six to sixteen, all kids are obliged to attend school. Even state
infant schools are free, with committed teachers and reasonably sized classes (Cassese,
2017).
Two different infant schools; asilo nido (kindergarten) and scuola materna (preschool)
accept students age up to three years old children and three to six years old children
respectively. Elementary education is mandatory and elementary school is attended by six to
11 years old students: The middle school accepts students from age 11. The level cognitive
evaluation; esame di terza media (middle school exam) , at the end of three year period the
