Pratoomsri 1 Teerawat Pratoomsri Dr. L. Casmier-Paz ENC 1101H 10 October 2007 Family: The Pre-Revolutionary Way of Life Family has been an integral part of our lives ever since the dawn of civilization. When  one thinks about family, one usually thinks of a group of relatives consisted of an adult male, an  adult female, and perhaps their one or two children. However, families are more than mere  groups of relatives; families define our culture, lifestyle, values, and our identity. The definition  of a family varies greatly depending on region, time period, and the subject people in terms of  beliefs and ethnicity. During the pre-Revolution era, a family’s main function was to support its  members who in turn support the country and take part in defining the American values and  culture, as shown in the film  Last of the Mohicans . Using the statistics shown in the textbook,  one can also infer that families also functioned as the “indicator” of the economy and lifestyle  during a time period, in this case the pre-Revolution era. Family, by dictionary, has many definitions. A family can be a group of relatives, a group  of people with something in common, or just a group of people living together. An example of  non-blood family is found in the film  Last of the Mohicans.  Nathaniel “Hawkeye” Poe is
