Observation of a Beggar The beggar that I chose to observe was the one outside of Starbucks on the corner of Boylston and Berkeley St. He is there almost every day when I walk to class. Most beggars I see in Boston are usually badly dressed and are very sad to see. This beggar was well dressed, with a red hat, blue shirt, grey sweatshirt, nice sneakers, two pairs of glasses, and blue jeans. The jeans had a little dirt on the knees but the rest of him was clean cut. He wasn’t your typical beggar in speech either; he was a very active beggar. Most beggars don’t say much other than “spare some change” and don’t move away from their corner store entrance. He on the other hand was moving around a lot, in and out of Starbucks, in the fenced in area where people sat, and in the sidewalk area. He was very nice and said things like “Can anyone help out please”, I’m a little short on work, I’ll do painting, brickwork, carpentry, anything”, “I’m just looking for that big job, or anything please.” A few of the people actually talked to him about work and traded information
