Kaitlyn Herthel March 11, 2008 Annotated Bibliography Ashelford, Jane. Dress in the Age of Elizabeth I. Holmes & Meier Publishers, Inc: New York, 1988. Dress in the Age of Elizabeth I describes the dress of men and women, while focusing on royalty, in sixteenth century England. Author Jane Ashelford primarily focuses on paintings to demonstrate popular fashions of the time. Although she does little more than present the ideas, the photos will serve to be useful while providing the framework for my own analysis and conceptualization of ideas regarding the role of the feather in fashion history during this time. Breward, Christopher, et al.: editors. The Englishness of English Dress. Berg: New York, 2002. The Englishness of English Dress focuses on the morality of fashion throughout English history. The book is a compilation of essays by different fashion historians. Although little is mentioned about the feather, the context that it provides will create a strong background for English fashion during the times that I will focus on. Calthrop, Dion Clayton.
