Unformatted text preview: Josh Capps Speech 4-Obesity Outline for Speech 4 Question of Policy Topic: The Battle against Obesity Specific Purpose Statement : To persuade my audience that obesity is a prevalent problem among Americans and that eating habits must be altered among many people to prevent obesity and an unhealthy lifestyle. Central Idea : Obesity is a growing problem in the United States and certain actions must be taken to instill healthier lifestyles among Americans. Method of Organization : Monroe’s Motivated Sequence Action : Immediate Action Goodwill/Relevance : According to the National Center for Health Statistics, a division of the Center for Disease Control, in 2004 approximately 32.1% of Americans aged 20 and over were obese.
