Josh Capps 5/7/2009 Movie Review The movie that I chose was And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself directed by Bruce Beresford and released by HBO Films on September 7, 2003. Antonio Banderas plays the Mexican revolutionary and outlaw Pancho Villa in this thrilling movie which tells the story of Frank Thayer played be Eion Bailey in his pursuit to make a movie documenting the life of Pancho Villa. The title of this movie refers to the fact that in the movie produced by Frank Thayer, Pancho Villa actually plays himself in many parts instead of having an actor portray him in the documentary. The year is 1914, the Mexican revolutionary Pancho Villa is in full-fledged combat with the Mexican government. He finds himself in a tight spot with low funds and American disdain thanks to Hearst Media’s campaign against him. In hopes of gaining American approval while also earning money to fund his war, Villa sends telegrams to Mutual Film Corporation inviting them to film and document his battle against the government. Mutual Film sends Frank Thayer to negotiate the contract with Villa as well as beginning the filming arrangements. As Thayer spends numerous days in
