Chapter 1: Globalization and Worldwide Developments International Management- process of applying management concepts and techniques in a multinational environment and adapting management practices to different economic, political and cultural environments MNC - a firm having operations in more than one country, international sales, and a nationality mix of managers and owners Globalization- the process of social, political, economic, cultural, and technological integration among countries around the world - offshoring - reductions in social responsibility in terms of pollution the other side says that these companies will force companies into becoming more socially responsible if they want to keep the company Offshoring- the migration of service jobs to low-wage nations - may cause downward pressure on wages and working conditions World Trade Organization- the global organization of countries that oversees rules and regulations for international trade and investment - after failed negotiations in Seattle, Qatar and Cancun, negotiations still remain
