The foam that forms when we pour beer into a glass is not something we usually bother to observe, but for those large corporations that actually produce that beer, it is an essential part of the production process. Along with its texture, the formation and decay of the foam is unique for every brand of beer. A lot of factors affect the decay of foam in a glass of beer and it is impossible to ever predict when a particular bubble will burst. What we can do is predict the proportion of foam that is likely to decay over a certain period of time. Moreover, we can also ascertain the factors that are most likely to affect the formation of the foam by guessing intelligently at what they could be and then testing these assumptions to see if they are indeed true. And using Erdinger Weissbier as the subject of testing, I have proved this statement as follows: First we observe the relation between the height of the foam in the glass and time as recorded at 15- 30 second intervals. (Please also refer to graph#1 attached to this report) Further, going with the observation I mentioned earlier that we can predict the proportion of bubbles that collapse for a time period, we can see that : Where is the volume of the foam and is the amount by which changed in the time interval . k is a constant that depends on the particular type of beer and maybe other factors like
