I learned that stakeholders and interest groups...
I learned many new facts about interest groups or knowns as advocacy group.
This was an interesting lesson on how stake holders create themselves onto separate
groups that will use a known tool called lobbying. Lobbying includes campaign
contributions, letter writing, making phone calls, and meeting with elected
representatives or government officials. (Godwin, 2013) Lobbyist can have many roles
and are often sought out by an organization to either be internal or even external. There
are many categories they work in and are organized by there skill sets since any one can
be one and don’t have to have any background to become one. A few high focuses they
put on for lobbyist are to watch and monitor lawmaking and have background
information that goes in line with the laws.
Its interesting how the stake holders are different in comparison to other business
when they are talking about health care. In the health policy they have 4 different
stakeholders organized by the providers, the policy maker, patients, and payroll. They
create a balance with one another and wont function with one missing unlike the
traditional style of a stakeholder. I found this very interesting.
