P a g e|1The Impact of Nursing Informatics on Patient Outcomes andPatient Care EfficienciesNURS 6051: Transforming nursing and healthcare through technologyThe Impact of Nursing Informatics on Patient Outcomes and Patient Care EfficienciesIntroduction
P a g e|2This paper is a written proposal to the management and stockholders in our organizationfor its growth and development and to serve patients with the best quality of care in this fast-forwarding technology terms. To step forward and be the best at what we do, we need to aim tohigh-quality home care service with high technology, patient safety, and patient satisfaction byhaving interprofessional team meetings every week with informatics nurses and superusers in ourteam.Proposing projectThere are three projects I would like to propose in this paper:1.Nurse informatics needs to be in the workforce to provide caregivers adequate educationfor new computer applications for service record form. Nurse informatics will establishcommunication methods to address patient's critical conditions and status that needimmediate intervention.2.Interprofessional team members will have team meetings once a week to ensure patientsafety and high quality of care.3.Superusers in caregivers will be picked and serve other caregivers to help in real-timesetting.Stakeholders in this topicCEO, administrator, office manager, and nurse manager are the stakeholders.
P a g e|3Patient outcome and patient care efficienciesThe service record form was recently switched from papers to electronic recording asmandated by Medicaid. This new system intent to convenient location track and confirmation ofservice hours confirmed by GPS. Caregivers are to clock in and out with their phone app, recordvital signs, and remark any other change of patient's condition. Although McGonigle andMastrian (2017) warned about “potential dehumanization of patient experience in hightechnology driven setting”, we all must admit that it is time that no one can go back and do oldfashion way of taking care of patients anymore. Since this new system change, many educationaland management needs arose in our company. First caregivers needed clear step by stepeducation of how to use the application, including how to clock in and out on time withinallowed proximity from the client's location, find out care plans, critical record information inthe application, and communicate with other team members regarding using this new system.
