Conclusion I ntroduction EZLN (Zapatista Army of National Liberation) was founded in 1983 Named after Emmanuel Zapata- a hero of the Mexican revolution The Zapatistas are an organization of indigenous Mayan revolutionaries in Mexico under the leadership of Subcomandante Marcos The EZLN is based in Chiapas, one of Mexicos poorest regions I deology The EZLN opposes neo- liberalism, globalization, and free trade, while pushing for indigenous rights and justice. The creation of NAFTA put an end to Mexican agricultural subsidies and greatly hurt Mayan farmers who could no longer compete in the global market.
