DEA 2 To: Supervisor From: Sandra Hurd, Paralegal Date: 7/29/16 Re: DEA New Rule The purpose for the new regulation will permit eligible practitioners to hand out and prescribe narcotics to an addicted person that is approved by the FDA for the treatments of detox. The rule that needs to be composed will provide an answer to the Controlled Substance Act by the Drug Addiction Treatment Act of 2000, enabling practitioners to hand out and prescribe controlled substance only for treatment to detox. To establish this, these certain issues need to be looked at; A) an addicted patient needs prior doctor’s permission. B) This rule will commission the pharmacies to fill the prescriptions only if approved by the FDA for detox. C) The practitioner may treat up to 30 patients without enrolling into the Narcotics Treatment Program [Dru16]. The panel would have full authority to handle this rule in good faith, which would be
