Designed to prevent Russia and Japs from getting full control over Chinese policy Boxer Rebellion Manchyu Dynasty (not popular among Chinese) Secret political societies that opposed the Manchyus and the foreign occupation Boxers attacked many of the foreigners Secret political opposition societies Order of the Literary Patriotic Harmonious Fists = Boxers Revolution o Manchu Regime o Phase I: Sun Yat-sen and the Nationalists (1911-16) Sun Yat-sen was a Nationalist Three People's Principles Democracy o Did not mean the same that it meant to many western nations. o
