Mamie Young D302 Article Review #1 There are multiple joint ventures that are started every year. Joint ventures can completed in a couple of different ways to combat some of the risk that is associated with this, as well as trying to help share the cost and bringing a new spirit into an older business. One of the types of joint ventures is contractual alliances, where the partners collaborate without creating a whole new company. Another one of the ways that joint ventures are formed is through creating a completely new company by contributing resources from both partners. This type of formation is called an equity joint venture. More than 5,000 joint ventures currently exist and are responsible for $350 billion in combined annual revenues. There are many challenges that these companies do face. Researchers from this article had completed a research into the success rate of joint adventures and alliances and were able to find that in 1991 only 51% were deemed successful. When they re-did the assessment in 2001 with more than 2,000 alliances and joint adventures only had a success rate of 53%. This article goes into detail about why the researchers believe that JV success is so hard to come by because the partners do not always pay enough attention to managing the launch phase.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
