HD/SOC251 April 21, 2008 Introduction to Social Gerontology Prof. E. Wethington Study Guide for the Final Exam Final Exam: May 13, 7-9:30 p.m. The exam will consist of 50 multiple choice questions. Approximately half of the questions will be based on the questions for the first two prelims, the regular prelims given at class time. No new concepts will be introduced (except for concepts mentioned earlier in the text that are relevant to the last chapters I the text). Copies of the 2 prelims will be put on reserve at Mann Library. These can be used by students who took the make-up exams (the exams did not have all of the same questions) or who have lost their prelims. The other (approximate) half of the questions will be based on new material since Prelim 2: all lectures, chapters 12-17 of the text, and the other assigned readings. Important terms to have learned from lecture: The principle of “structural lag” (and how it has been applied in class) The types of elder mistreatment Advanced (health) care directive (the distinction from living will)
