Dr. Emmert POSC 1020L 19 September 2006 Hatchery Lab Report On Tuesday September 12 th the Intro to Poultry Science class traveled to the hatchery to hear from two especially informative speakers and to perform a necropsy. The speakers Dr. Billy M. Hargis, the Director of Poultry Health Laboratory and veterinarian, and Dr. F. Dustan Clark, the Extension Poultry Health Veterinarian, spoke about a variety of topics relating to the poultry industry. These topics included academics, accreditations, research, life skills, and careers. Dr. Billy Hargis, graduate of the University of Minnesota and the University of Georgia has been at the University of Arkansas since 2000 and concentrates ninety percent of his time on research and the rest on teaching graduate and undergraduate students. His research focuses on avian medicine and ways to prevent diseases in poultry. Furthermore, Dr. Hargis gave some study advice and interesting facts about chickens.
