As each country has been affected by the pandemic, it has caused a lot of disturbances in the market
economy and the livelihoods of each citizen living in that country. One country that has been hit hard
by the pandemic is the Philippines, where poverty is rising day by day as we encounter COVID-19. The
Philippines, which was severely impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, is currently at the center of an
alleged corruption scandal.
A. Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation, the firm at the middle of the Senate’s probe into the
government’s purchase of pandemic gear, seemed to have oversubscribed items like goggles,
face shields, and infrared thermometers to the Department of Transportation (DOTr) at a median
of 62% to 68% over the company’s own value catalog. (Tomacruz, 2021).
