DIGITAL ILLUSTRATION AHAA 2033 Week 5 16 Oct 2012 Planning Your Composition Normally create at least four related idea (thumbnail) sketches on paper. Sketches should be 6 x 9 inches any size based on what you’ve plan to be . Color should be a consideration as you work on composition ideas. Add color to your idea sketches with color pencils. You will be using a maximum of four colors plus white or black in your picture. Each sketch should NOT be a completely new invention. If you have a good idea in your first sketch, keep the best part, put it into the next sketch and refine it. Refine and perfect your ideas in your idea sketches until you are sure you have an exciting composition that: has a definite area of emphasis placed according to the rule of thirds is visually balanced (both sides have equal visual weight) has enough repetition to create unity (harmony) has enough variety to keep the viewer interested changing proportions can help here has rhythm to lead the viewer through the composition possibly through use of a pattern

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
