Unit 7 Change Simply, an alteration from the current state to the desired state is called change. The phase of change between the two phases is called transition phase. Change is the biggest reality and it is unavoidable. An organization always survives in a dynamic environment and it has to change itself regularly to adapt accordingly to the environmental changes. Change is inevitable. So an organization should emphasize to manage it properly. Organizational change is an alteration in people, structure, or technology. It focuses on programs and strategies to alter people, structure or technology. It includes enrichment of jobs, formation of autonomous work groups, introduction of improved incentive payment plans, introduction of participative decision making process, formation of quality circles and the like. Forces of change: There are basically internal and external forces for change.
