MATH2300 (Calculus 2) MATH2300, Spring 2008Instructors: David Keyes, John Fuhrmann, Jonathan Kish, Patrick Newberry, Matthew Stackpole, Dr Green, Josh SandersTeaching Assistants: Spencer Unger, Michael Noyes, Tim Schumacher In addition to the instructor office hours below, the TAs will be available to assist you in the help lab in MATH 175. Good times to find them are: M 6-8pm (Tim Schumacher), T 3-6 (Spencer Unger), W 12-1 (Tim Schumacher), R 8-10am (Michael Noyes), R 3-4 (Spencer Unger) and R 4-6 (Michael Noyes). Text Calculus, early transcendentals, single variable, 8th ed (by Howard Anton, Irl Bivens and Stephen Davis) Prerequisites Calculus 1 Course Contents Continuation of MATH 1300. Topics include transcendental functions, methods of integration, polar coordinates, conic sections, improper integrals, and infinite series. Prereq., Calculus 1. Credit not granted for this course and MATH 1320 or APPM 1360. We intend to cover sections 6.9, 7.4, 7.9, 8.2-8.6, 8.8, 9.1, 9.4, chapter 10, and sections 11.1-11.5 of the book. Grading Your grade will be computed from: Y Homeworks: 10% of final grade; H Tuesday quizzes: 5% of final grade; T Three Midterms: 20% of final grade each; T Final Exam: 25% of final grade.

The four examination scores may be individually curved to produce an appropriate profile. Tests The three midterms will last 90 minutes each and will start at 5.15pm on Wednesday, February 6 , Wednesday, March 5 and Wednesday, April 9 . The location of midterm 3 has yet to be determined. Bring your CU student ID to all of your tests. There will usually be a 20 minute quiz at the end of class on Tuesday, although this will not occur on the first Tuesday or on the Tuesdays immediately before the midterm examinations. Your lowest two quiz scores will be dropped and will not count towards
