Chapter 6—Section 1 Vocabulary: Classical Conditioning **Learning is achieved through experience. If we are born knowing how to do it, it is not the result of learning.** 1. stimulus- is any object or event that elicits a response 2. response- Any clearly defined, measurable physical reaction to a stimulus 3. conditioning- is the process through which a stimulus and reaction become associated with one another 4. classical conditioning- a form of learning in wich reflex responses are associated with new stimuli. Pavlov’s experiments: Pavlov was studying salivation in dogs to determine the relationship between the nervous system and digestion. He knew meat on the tongues of dogs was a stimulus for saliva production. He found that the dogs began to salivate when he or an assistant get in the room or he put meat powder. So Pavlov changed his experiments to prove that he could train dogs to salivate in response to any stimulus. He place a tube connected to a recording device and then placed Meat Powder on their tongues.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
