Mario Nima 10-30-2007 GEN ST 11L Research Paper Men or Women-- Who Reigns Supreme on Campus? A much debated question on a college campus concerns itself with gender bias -- who plays the more important role, men or women? Research suggests that both genders make their mark on particular facets of college life. Occasionally, it is unclear as to which gender has the larger effect. In comparing the strengths of men and women on a college campus, one can conclude that neither gender is more significant than the other; the two simply differ in their contributions to the institution. Men clearly reign supreme in the facet of college sports. Although women's varsity volleyball is more popular than any male volleyball league, men's football, baseball, and soccer teams (and virtually any other widely played men's sport) get more faculty attention, and bring in more revenue for the institution than those of women's teams. Some sports, like football, don't even include the female gender. Men's sports are also more revered; they get more attention from
