The acrosomal reaction within fertilization involves enzymes digesting holes through the zona pellucida. The process of capacitation within fertilization allows time for the sperm to become increasingly motile and their membranes increasingly fragile. Cortical reactions in the process of fertilization allows for only one sperm cell to fertilize an egg. Where in the fallopian tubes does fertilization take place????? fertilization occurs in the end of the fallopian tube away from the uterus (close to the ovary). What is a blastocyte???Morula?? Zygote?? The blastocyst is a structure formed in the early development of mammals. It possesses an inner cell mass (ICM) which subsequently forms the embryo. The outer layer of the blastocyst consists of cells collectively called the trophoblast. Morula is a solid ball of cells resulting from division of a fertilized ovum, and from which a blastula is formed. Zygote is a diploid cell resulting from the fusion of two haploid gametes; a fertilized ovum.
