INTRODUCTIONA.Background of the StudyAdvancement in Science and Technology widens the capacity of living.Through the new found discoveries, humans’ state of life also changes day byday. Physical Science as one of the foundation of all the studies about Science,offers new technique on obtaining the absorbance of plant leaf using LED asartificial light source and cellular phone as spectrometer.For many years, LED is considered as one of the useful output of technologyas light source. LED emits visible spectrum that can be observed usingspectrometer. Spectrometer is an instrument used for measuring wavelengths oflight spectra. This device is commonly found in advance and complete sciencelaboratory. Moreover, this instrument provides accurate data on different studiesinvolving visible lights. Its usage extends not only on the field of Physics but alsoin Biology specifically on the reflectance, transmittance and absorbance of light inplants.In this study, a cellular phone is being introduced as spectrometer instead ofthe device used in laboratory. It will show the possibility of taking an ordinary cellphone with a camera to turn into a spectrometer. This study was conducted totest the applicability of cell phone as spectrometer to analyse the absorbance ofplant leaves coming from LED.B.Statement of the ProblemThisstudy will use Light Emitting Diode as a light sources and a cellularphone as spectrometer to analyze the absorbed light from a plant leaf.Specifically this study aims to:
1.Investigate the capability of cellular phone as spectrometer.2.Identify the absorption spectra of plant leaf using LEDs as light sourceemploying a cellular phone spectrometer.
