I have experienced many types of feedback over my many years of working. I’ve had
supervisors give feedback by telling me what I did well and how it helped the unit I was in. I
have also had a supervisor let me know that I couldn’t do anything right and that I wouldn’t
make it in the unit I was in. Leaders are individuals that can teach, correct others, and also be
respectful. According to Bailey & Burch (2009), “They have mastered critical, practical
leadership skills, including running an effective meeting, delegating and giving feedback to
others, using excellent social skills, and motivating others to participate in conversations and
projects.” When my supervisor told me I wouldn’t make it, I questioned my ability.
