BrycePHE-327-H1069 Res & Asses-Public Health 21EW1The Crisis:● Obesity in the US is the highest in the world.● •1999-2018 the US w ent from 30.5% to 42.4%.● 39.8% of adults are obese, and 18.5% of children.● According to the CDC, the estimated annual cost in 2020 was $190.2 billion due to obesityrelated illnesses.● Per capita medical spending was an av erage of 2,741 higher for obese indiv iduals v s healthyweight patients. That’s a 150% increase!!The goal then would be to decrease the levels of obesity, therefore decreasingobesity related illnesses and the astronomical medical expense through Multilevelefforts.
