CYBER THEFT 2 Millions of people are manipulated and mislead by online commerce every year, most of which results in a monetary and/or product loss to the consumer. This is Ms. Rodriguez’s account of a nightmare online purchase. Ms. Rodriguez and the public in general are the obvious stakeholders in this case however there is a twist. “Mr. Russo” owner of the online store DecorMyEyes is also a stakeholder in this case for a different set of reasons. Ms. Rodriguez stands to lose out on $487 and potentially bank fees associated with disputing the charges after Mr. Russo failed to fulfill his end of the purchase agreement. Upon investigating (post online bullying) she discovered Mr. Russo conducted suspiciously under the alias of Mr. Bolds and Mr. Borker. Mr. Borker apparently stands to gain online views whereas negative attention is still attention which moves his online shop to the top of the google’s web search when glasses are sought. According to Mr. Borker the more a client complains about service or product the more publicity his shop gains which increases the odds of a new customer viewing his shop when searching for an online source for eye wear (NYT, 2010). Much of the modern American law of contracts is found in the Uniform Commercial Code or UCC, written in 1952 and later adopted by every state in the United States as the basic law governing the sale of goods. Under the UCC, every merchant who sells a product automatically promises that it is fit for its ordinary purpose (Halbert, 2014). This being said, Mr. Russo and
