Stop 1: Packsaddle schist. The packsaddle schist reaches a maximum thickness of about 22.400 ft, age of metamorphism is 1.2billion years old. Within the phyllite(metamorphic rock) I was able to point out mica, quartz, and calcite.Within in the granite I found k feldspar, plag and muscovite. They rocks were regionally metamorphosed, due to the fact that the rock is a low grade metamorphic rock. I believe these were mudstone or somesort of sedimentary rock. These rock contain foliation, cleavage and foliation, but because the rock are sodeformed we find strike and cleavage to be parallel. I took measurements from both SE and NW sides ofthe road. From the SE side of the road I measured a N 58 W strike and a 36 SW dip , from the NW side Imeasured a N 45 E strike and a 26 SE dip. The thickness of the packsaddle schist is exaggerated due toisoclinal folding. I also observed igneous bodies crosscutting the packsaddle schist, the granite bodycontained quartz veins, feldspar and calcite. We saw two kinds of granitic intrusions, a synkinematicintrusion show by the bouduan calcite and the granite veins and a post –kinematic grainite dykes.
