Jameson Family Antilipemic Agents Barbara Jameson Stuart Jameson Joey Jameson* Barbara and Stuart Jameson are recent citizens of Kinzig. They moved to the village about a year ago from Chicago. Barbara is an interior designer and Stuart is an architect. Barbara is 59 years old and Stuart is 62. They moved to Kinzig to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city like Chicago. The Stuarts never planned on having children, so it came as quite a surprise when Barbara became pregnant at 43 years old. Joey was born with Down’s Syndrome and a congenital heart condition. He had open heart surgery when he was 6 months old to correct a septal defect. Joey functions at about a 6-year-old level. He works at McDonald’s in the village where he fills the napkins and straw holders. He also attends classes at Kinzig High School in special education. He especially likes painting. Barbara and Stuart did not have a family doctor for the first 6 months of living in Kinzig, but finally found a physician who insisted on complete physicials for both of them. It was found that Stuart had increased cholesterol levels. Barbara did not have anything out of the normal. The physician first suggested dietary changes for Stuart. Barbara switched to cooking fresh vegetables, used olive oil and cooked mainly chicken and fish. Six weeks later, Stuart’s cholesterol levels were still elevated. The physician prescribed Zocor for Stuart and instructed him to return in 6 weeks for follow up blood work. What would teach Stuart about this drug? Why does he need follow up blood work? What labs are very important for him to have done and how often? What serious ADR is possible with Zocor and what are the symptoms Stuart needs to watch for? If Stuart’s physician would have prescribed Niacin, what could Stuart do to prevent uncomfortable side effects with high doses of Niacin? Another choice could be Lopid. What would change in your teaching? If Stuart were prescribed Questran, how would it be administered? What adverse reactions are possible with Questran? What would you monitor?

To make matters worse, they had sat on the runway for 4 hours waitin gofr clearance to fly due to severe weather. The airline had run out of water and Barbara did not have any additional fluids to drink. After unpacking and taking a shower, she prepared for bed when sudden pain occurred in her right calf. She also noted it was slightly swollen. Stuart called their family phyisician and was told to take Barbara to the emergency room. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
