The metabolism of humans influences the performance. It is necessary to analyze the important principles of metabolism so that it can be implemented fornutrition and sports.Metabolism is generally the basis of all the required biochemical reactions taking place in the body ofhumans("Sport nutrition – What you should eat before, during and after exercise", 2020).It includes digestion, respiration, and energy generation processes. For these purposes, our body needs to perform its functions properly during exercises. During metabolicprocesses, the nutritive substances along with their components are adopted and then transformed by the humanbody (Gropper & Smith, 2012). This is the reason why our body constantly requires nutritive substances. Thesesubstances act as the energy source, which in turn helps during metabolic activities such as exercise. Our bodydepends on a chemical named ATP for energy. All macronutrients such as protein, fats and carbohydrates arebroken down to ATP which gives us energy. The main fuel for our body is carbohydrates. Fats differ tocarbohydrates as they give us extra energy however it takes longer to break them down. The amount ofcarbohydrates, fat and proteins we consume depends on the intensity and duration of the exercise.
