Experimental Notes 1. Do not disassemble the pH probe/drop counter assembly. Be sure not to touch the pH probes. 2. Attach buret clamps to the gray, C-shaped rings protruding out of the lab benches to heat their metal in a test tube. 3. KEEP HOTPLATES A GOOD DISTANCE AWAY FROM BOTH THE MEASURENET STATION AND THE PH PROBE ASSEMBLY, as heat can damage the sensitive electronics. 4. I will come around and assign you an unknown number. 5. Record your masses to the nearest 0.001 grams and all temperature readings to the nearest 0.1 degree. 6. Decant water from the calorimeter into a beaker. Do not decant water from the metal

Pour the wet metal onto a cloth or papertowel and thoroughly dry the metal. Return dry metals to the used metal container bearing the same unknown number as your uknown. 8. Return the styrofoam cups to the TA pan, not in the trash. 9. Be careful not to poke holes in the bottom of the cups. The probe tip should not touch the bottom of the styrofoam cup but about 1/4 to 1/2 inches from the bottom of the cup, completely submerged in the water....
