1.To be able to learn the knurling process.2.To be able to operate the lathe machine for knurling operation.3.To be able to knurl a workpiece between the chuck and dead centers.METHOD AND ANALYSIS:Knurling is the process producing raised designed figure in a cylindrical surface heldbetween center and chuck on the lathe machine. As the pressure is done in the work piece bythe knurling tools the metal is forced out and the shape formed depends on the knurling toolsdesign.MATERIALS:2 pieces of round metal with the size of 12.5 inches length9/16-inch diameterTOOLS AND EQUIPMENTS TO BE USED:1.Lathe Machine and its accessories - to cut and shape metals by revolving it on a cuttingtool.2.Steel Rule - for measuring purposes.3.Vernier Caliper - for precision measurement inside and outside diameter.4.Knurling Tools - for knurling cylindrical work.5.File - for finishing and smoothing surface.PROCEDURES:1.Cut the material by the desired length.2.Mount the workpiece on the lathe machine.3.Set the knurling tools on the tool post, check the distance between lower and upperroller and to the center line with the workpiece.4.Check the roller of the knurling tools from dirt and it is rolling smoothly.5.Set the lathe machine at low speed. 6.Oil the bearings and all the movable parts of the lathe machine.
