Delayed-onset muscle soreness is a condition that usually happens 12 to 48 hours after exercise. The general feeling of “soreness” seems to be connected to acidosis, muscle spasm and microlesions in both connective and muscle tissues. Instead of being alarmed of the uncomfortable conditions, DOMS is actually a sign of regeneration of muscle, which increases muscle mass. 2. Provide an example of the use of mental imagery and state how it is used. Mental imagery is used to help rehabilitate stroke victims in getting range of motion back. An example of its use is a study in Germany that used mental imagery of sequential finger movements on hand function to restore hand function to stroke victims. It was then compared to conventional physical therapy. Mental imagery was found to suggest that the control of finger movements benefit from mental training. 3.
