Ellyn Velasco Dr. Williams Humanities 120 February 26, 2007 Crimes and Misdemeanors Can the perfect crime really be committed? There are countless murder cases in the history of this country that have yet to be solved. Murderers everywhere get away with their heinous crimes. In the 1989 film Crimes and Misdemeanors , Judah Rosenthal commits the perfect crime. Although he does not physically kill Dolores, all it takes is one call from Judah to his brother Jack to get the job done. He moves on with his life, and no one, besides Jack, has any knowledge of his felony. What could possibly lead a human being to take the life of another? Judah’s hopelessness and pride lead him to commit the perfect crime. In Dante’s Hell, Clifford and Dolores belong in the second circle of Hell with the lustful. Clifford’s lust for Halley triggers his growing distance from his wife to expand even further. Dolores’ lust for Judah essentially causes her death. The various movie scenes from old films and the documentary with Professor Levy create a motif
