Dana Killam 4/7/08 Engl.115-20 Journal #9-10 In the beginning of “Streetcar Named Desire” I got the grasp of the characters. Stella and Stanley live in the slums of New Orleans. There is a mix of characters in the story; I saw how Stanley and Blanche are completely opposites. In the beginning Stanley takes his shirt off in front of Blanche and that offends her. Through the words and actions I could tell that Blanche is very uncomfortable in front of Stanley. From the first scene I got a sense of a gloomy time, or the start of a tough time. Blanche says that she lost Belle Reeve and I could tell that she was emotionally distraught. As the story goes on I saw that Blanche lies a lot to get people to like her. One of the lies was that she said to Mitch that she was younger than Stella. When Stella and Stanley had their fight on poker night they rushed back to each other and made up. This either tells me that they are very in love, or that they have a shaky relationship together. They realize that they have no one else, and
