1) Suffrage- The right to vote in a political election 2) Articles of Confederation- Set up loose confederation of states that comprised the first national government. 3) Constitutional Convention- Convention that met in Philadelphia and drafted the constitution. 4) Land ordinance of 1785- Created the grid system of surveys by which all public land was made available for sale. 5) Virginia Plan- Proposal calling for a national legislature in which the states would be represented according to population. 6) Federalism- The sharing of powers between the national government and the states. 7) Antifederalist- Opponents of the Constitution in the debate over its ratification. 8) Bill of Rights- a written summary of inalienable rights and liberties. 9) Judiciary act of 1789- Established the Supreme Court and a system of lower federal courts. 10) Treaty of Greenville- Forced Native Americans in the old northwest to cede most of the present state of Ohio in the U.S. 11)
