Your task is to read the book and collect between 10-15 discussion questions that you genuinely
would like to talk about in a small group with people who’ve also read the book. Aim for
questions that you genuinely wonder (rather than those “schoolish” quiz questions), would like
to get different perspectives on, or about the philosophical ideas put forth themselves. At least
the last couple of the questions should make it clear that you’ve read the resolution of
Siddartha’s journey.
1 Siddartha notes that when he stopped following teachings, he realized
the beauty in the world itself. How can this be compared to what the
Tao teaches?
2 How did Siddartha not get tired of always being friendly? How did he
not get tired of treating everyone pleasantly, especially when something
went wrong? Was it just his personality, or because he was trained as a
Samana?
3 How can Siddartha give so much to everyone, especially Kamala, but
still have no love? How can his soul be elsewhere the way he talks
about Kamala and spends time with her?
