1/22 Tiffany Family video Charles Tiffany- father (jewelry) Louie Tiffany- son (lamps) Charles Tiffany (born February 15 th , 1812) At 15 he was put in charge of family store- very successful 1837- moved to New York in the midst of financial panic- opened fine  goods store (figured wealthy world would still spend money) Stocked goods form overseas September 14 th All goods were sold at a fixed price 1848 buyer was sent to Europe to buy goods- in France there was mass  chaos- buyer got diamonds *first time name became synonymous with diamonds Cyrus field- bought able from him- Trans Atlantic Railroad  1853- Tiffany’s partners retired Alas holding grandfather clock- “maslot” of Tiffany’s- Soho New York Through his fathers’ store Louie Tiffany became interested in such things
