In this situation, I would like to say I would have exited the surgery room or utilizedsome technology in the surgery room to notify higher authority. Yes, I probably would havereceived backlash but advocating for the patient is one of the top priorities of the nurse. In thesituation where the paperwork provided to accurate information and the surgeon insisted, theywere correct and proceeded to operate in the wrong area of the patient could have resulted inlegal actions against all contributing to the surgery. As stated earlier, I would like to say I wouldhave not participated in the surgery and continued to act until it ceased but seeing how I havenever been put in that situation, those actions will forever be unknown. The nurse in the videostates she “felt awful” due to the lack of support they received from their management team(Crucial Learning, 2011). The feeling of awfulness cannot repair the damage the patient hasunderwent. It can’t replace the need for an additional surgery to correct that initial concern.
