Photosynthesis :                 ( Light) CO 2  + H 2  C 6 H 12 O 6  + O 2 Wavelength : measure of quality of light. Shorter = more energy Wavelengths of visible spectrum : ROY G BIV - Absorption : light energy is retained by pigment molecules - Transmission : light not absorbed by object, passes through it. - Reflection :  light isn’t absorbed but is turned back. - Chlorophyll a :  green pigment of photosynthesis. Absorbs light. - chlorophyll b :  accessory pigment- absorbs light energy and pass through it to  chlorophyll a. - R f  = d. pigment/d. solvent -Low FT50 value  = high relative light absorption.  Leaf structure: -Cuticle : waxy non-cellular layer on the outer surface of the leaf. Prevents water loss. -Epidermis : outermost layer of cells in plants. -Palisade layer : chloroplast bearing cells in the interior that are oriented with their long  axes perpendicular to the leaf surface. -Spongy Layer - loosely-packed chloroplast bearing cells in the interior of the cells  surrounded by air space. -Guard cells
