Asheville: Cafe Soleil: "A destination not a distraction" Date:   September 7, 2004 Reviewer:   A TripAdvisor User, Arden, NC   This place is magical. The first time I walked into Café Soleil there was a couple doing the tango (gotan style) in the aisle! Several members of a musical ensemble who normally  play at Zambras were jamming (flamenco) and the owner was singing a gypsy accompaniment. I was treated warmly by the bartender who came from around the bar to greet  me with a warm hug! The drinks were spectacular! She was making a ginger martini with fresh ginger and Stoli Vanila vodka! Oh my! I didn't get to eat the food there for over a  week as the kitchen was closed by the time I got there (after 1AM) but I came in for lunch (open Friday and Saturdays only 11:30-2) and had the bechemel, asparagus and

This is not the place to go and speed through a meal. It may take an hour to get your food but it is well worth it. This is the place to slow down and enjoy life and turn off the instant gratification circuitry which has been on overdrive.
