Dr. Emmert POSC 2353 25 April 2007 Problem Set 5 1A. As the temperature increases birds are less likely to eat and therefore feed conversion worsens (increases). Temperatures that are too cold also inhibit feed conversion since energy is being expended for heat, not growth. 1B. The larger the body size, the les efficient the bird is with conversion. The smaller the bird the more efficient. Turkeys are less efficient than broilers so a greater percentage of the expenditure will be spent on feed for turkeys. 2A. 45 X 600 = 27,000 X (1/80) = 33,750 Birds
